Our Vision and Values

As you might have already guessed, spiritual direction is not an exact science. You could think about if the three roles of counselor, coach, and pastor had a baby, you might have a spiritual director. While often rooted in a particular tradition, spiritual directors accompany folks of all faiths or no faith on the directee’s path, not the spiritual director’s path. Together, the director and the directee will work together to explore that which is most important to the directee from their own tradition or worldview. Spiritual directors have many tools in their tool box to support the directee on their journey, but will not do so in a prescriptive manner unless asked to do so. These tools, sometimes borrowed from a variety of traditions and sometimes from the non-religious world, invite the directee to engage their inner self, their sense of the divine or wonder. To make the intangible tangible and perhaps to develop practices that will support what they are feeling most called to in life. We might utilize art or poetry or a walk through the woods or a labyrinth, we could explore personality modalities like the enneagram, strength-finders, or Myers-Briggs.
